Software Based Recording

The foundation of my studio is Pro Tools editing software. I do have other options for sound capture, mainly more portable solutions. Systems as small as a hand held stereo recorder and as large as a 24 channel recorder.

I operate in a home studio. The smaller size is an advantage for the performing artist. Nerves and stress can really diminish the performing potential of the musician. I have experienced my own performance falling flat when I am not comfortable in an environment. It is very important that I and my clients can feel comfortable in the smaller environment.

Another advantage of the size, is the ability to take the studio to you. If you have a favorite location or a room that you would like to capture the acoustics, Lintz Studio is the perfect fit for you.

I started recording with my own band in 1985. I've seen the music market and tools evolve and really open up to serve the musicians better than ever before. Now more than ever. If you can dream it, you can do it!

MIXERS

In the Box vs. Hardware

The art of mixing has become less tedious with the advancement of technologies. I prefer to mix in the box. "In the Box" means to perform adjustments and automation on a computer program without the use of a control surface. As compared to the control surface, I find mixing in the box to be more accurate and less time consuming.

Vocal Microphone

I trust my vocal capture to the Sure KSM27 studio microphone. This is a very good representation of the timbres created by the human voice. Also works well on acustic instruments.

Not just one mic will fill the needs of every occasion. We have a large selection mics to meet the needs of the audio to be recorded.

In the Box vs. Harware

Again, technology affords us options. Though I do use many "in the box" plugins to emulate the outboard gear used in studios world wide. I have found that there is still no way to emulate the hamonics produced by a tube amplifier.

My main 'go to' outboard hardware is a Tube Preamp. This tool is very usefull for enhancement of the warmth and depth of any recording.

Understanding Files

There are many formats to save and edit audio and video files. We can work with nearly every format. Our prefered file is the WAV file. We can work with other files.

Some clients use Lintz Studio for post prodution only. They provide the recorded audio for edit and mixing. If you have format questions, we would love to answer your concerns. Just click the rates/contact tab.

INSTRUMENTS

In Studio

Some instruments are available for use at the studio. If you require an instrument for your session it is best to reserve the instrument at the time of session scheduling.
